Every day that I spend at the Ranch House it is so nice to come home to a beautifully finished house that has flooring, drywall, plumbing, lights and all the comforts that a house should have. Don't get me wrong, demo is pretty fun and watching a house be built exactly to your specifications and design is even more fun but it does not happen in one day. Sometimes the work, planing, and simply the patients it takes to watch a house be renovated and built is exhausting and frustrating. There are so many things to think about, little and big. All the way from how you want your kitchen lay out, to where you want light switches, to how the trim will be on your windows and doors. Trim is one of the last things to go up so a person would think you could just figure that out later. But, on a brick home Doors are usually set back inside the brick and windows are often done that way too. You have to know not only how big you want your doors but also how thick you want your trim that goes around the door to be so that there is adequate room for both a door jam and trim. I have a front door, and 4 French doors that lead out to a back patio.
Just for fun, here are some inspiration pictures..
|I found this picture on a blog. If you have a chance it is a fun blog to read. She renovates an entire farm style house. Go here to read about here kitchen renovation http://www.fortheloveofahouse.blogspot.com/2011/07/renovation-photo-story-kitchen.html?m=1|

I love both these kitchens. Right now my kitchen layout is exactly like the picture directly above, minus the arched window. But, I am following the farm house style of the first picture.
Here is what it used to look like...
Here is what it looks like now..
Can you see it? Once the exterior wall is laid (hopefully this week) it will really start to come together.
Dining room vision
This is what the dining room looks like right now. Soon we will cut a 12 foot opening in that wall to put 2 sets of wood French doors.
Below is a different angle of the two way fire place. Not much to look at right now but it has potential.

Entry to addition vision
|I love this brick arch and the wall going to the addition is going to be exposed brick.|
The window in the picture below is now basically a big hole in the wall.
